Puttur, Nov 25: On Tuesday, three students were hospitalised after groups of the government PU college students here fought with each other. On Wednesday the fight continued and five more students were admitted into hospital.

On Tuesday, the students came to blows on the issue of one of the male students speaking to a girl student of the college. One among the students was admitted into the government hospital at Puttur and two more were admitted into a private hospital here.

It is said that on Wednesday morning, an organization unconnected with the college, under the leadership of Akhil Bharat Vidyarthi Parishad entered the campus and held a protest seeking to investigate and reach to the root of the incidents of attacks on students, incidents of offering lure and expressing love towards fellow female students etc. After the protest, the students fought again, it is said. Three students of one of the groups were admitted into the government hospital here. Two among them were later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. The students claimed that lethal weapons were used in the attack.

Two students from the opposite camp also got admitted into a private hospital in Puttur. After a complaint was made to Puttur police station seeking detailed investigation, when the students were returning, people who had nothing to do with the college who came in a car reportedly attacked the students with lethal weapons after the college hours on a pathway, some students stated.
