Mangaluru, Nov 25: Congress leader Pratibha Kulai held a press conference in the city on Thursday November 25 in connection with the rape and murder of eight-year-old girl that took place a few days ago. Pratibha asked the citizens to be more alert.

Pratibha said, “This kind of incident has made the people of this district to bury our heads in shame. This is the second such incident in recent times. The police department needs to be more aware. In addition, the public needs to be alert. Police have arrested the accused.

“Accused should be encountered on the spot. Many youths are harassing women in the name of moral policing in the district. However, when such heinous crimes take place in the same community, no one raises their voice against it. When it is a matter of other communities, organizations suddenly interfere in it to take political mileage.

“In reality, women are not getting any justice. People have to get united and fight against menace like this. Organizations have to speak up against such crimes. It has become a fashion to light candles and protest. These kinds of people are more common in society. Instead people have to fight and see that the accused are sentenced. Take precautions so that such incidents should not recur,” she said.
