Bengaluru, Nov 26: Karnataka chief minister (CM), Basavaraj Bommai, said that instructions have been issued to conduct a probe into the allegation of kickbacks contained in a letter addressed by the Contractors Association to the Prime Minister (PM).

Speaking to media persons on Thursday November 25, he said that the said letter had been sent on July 6. He noted that the allegations contained in the letter need to be looked into by the heads of various departments. "If there are any lapses, investigation should be conducted and the guilty should be punished. I have issued instructions on these lines to the chief secretary," he clarified.

The CM said that the officer has also been told to scrutinise cases where tender processes were set into motion after he became the chief minister. He also said that it has been decided to form a committee headed by a retired judge to keep an eye on the system of tenders.

Congress demands president's rule: Relating to the above allegation of commission on contracts, leader of the opposition in the assembly, Siddaramaiah, and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, D K Shivakumar, led a delegation to the state governor on Thursday November 25. The delegation urged the governor to order a high level probe into the allegations. The leaders who insisted that the BJP has lost its moral right to govern the state as per constitution have demanded to impose President's rule in Karnataka. The leaders said that they will soon release more documentary proof about the kickbacks scandal.
