Mangaluru, Dec 2: In connection with the implementation of a resolution passed by the general session of the gram panchayat of Kandavar, the president and panchayat development officer (PDO) came to blows on Tuesday. Relating to the fight, two separate complaints were filed in Bajpe police station.

Panchayat development officer Yashwant Belchada, in his complaint, stated that the president of the panchayat Umesh Moolya, had attacked him. In his complaint, Umesh Moolya said that the PDO had attacked him and inflicted injuries to his face. Both have got admitted into different hospitals.

A protest led by gram panchayat's BJP-supported members was held in which strong steps were demanded against the PDO concerned. Mangaluru taluk panchayat executive officer, Nagaraj, came to the spot and said that he will send a report to the zilla panchayat chief executive officer.

It is said that efforts to transfer the PDO concerned have been going on, and this issue had given rise to acrimonious scenes at the gram sabha held recently.

In the meanwhile, Karnataka State PDO Welfare Association's Dakshina Kannada district unit held protest in front of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat on Wednesday. The association urged the chief executive officer to put a stop to such incidents which are happening frequently. Over a hundred PDOs were present.
