Udupi, Dec 10: MLA K Raghupati Bhat, expressing his opinion on the issue of giving eggs to children along with the midday meal, supported the idea. He also commented that in his opinion, giving eggs is not wrong, and there is no compulsion for those who dislike eggs to eat them.
He said that the children who remain vegetarians in their early days remain that way. However, after growing up, there is a chance that they might change their food habits. He therefore suggested that when giving eggs, arrangement may be made to give eggs separately. "There might be occasions in which the vegetarians might feel awful when they see others eating eggs. Therefore, arrangements can be made for them to have eggs separately," he suggested.
At the same time, Bhat insisted that just because others are uncomfortable, dropping the very idea of giving eggs to the children altogether will not be justifiable. He felt that the children who see others eating eggs do not get influenced by it.
