Bangalore, Dec 10: Karnataka state director general of police, Ajai Kumar Singh, informed at a press conference convened here on Thursday December 9 that Madoor Yousuf alias Madoor Isubu (36), who is allegedly a close associate of notorious underworld kingpin, Chota Shakil, has been arrested by the policemen from Mangalore.

“Yousuf is involved with 17 cases including four relating to murder. He has been arrested and being questioned,” he said.

Isubu had been arrested in 2001 for his involvement in communal clashes and rioting. He had also been sentenced in this case. After getting released from jail, he used to stay in Saudi Arabia. He is accused of working in close association with Chota Shakil and drawing up plans of extortion, murder, and other destructive activities in India.

Police sources said that Isubu was in contact with suspected naxals, Vinay and Devaiah, who were recently arrested on the allegation of planning to undertake destructive activities. Investigation about this case is continuing.

Isubu, arrested in Bangalore on Wednesday, was produced in the court of the first class judicial magistrate in B C Road at 6.30 pm on Thursday. Bantwal circle inspector, K Nanjunde Gowda, district crime intelligence bureau inspector, Venkatesh Prasanna, and others were present. Isubu faces four cases in Bantwal.
