Bengaluru, Jan 17: With all hospitals directed to suspend Out-Patient Department and discourage people from visiting hospitals except in emergency cases for treatment, a high-level meeting convened by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday decided to give more importance for OPD treatment in Bengaluru by appointing more staff and also restrict people from getting admitted to triaging.
Home isolation calls must be increased and those with comorbidity conditions must be given a call at least once a day to review their condition and also instil confidence, the meeting decided and also advised that adequate precautions must be taken to ensure that the other members of the family of home isolation patients were not infected.
The meeting also advised that medical kits must be distributed to the homes of people more effectively and take steps to encourage local doctors to handle consultations.
On the Covid cases in rural areas, the meeting felt the need for patients to be counselled and given priority for treatment of infected children. The parents of infected children must be supported through advice while supplying separate medical kits for the treatment of children.
The meeting directed that children and senior citizens must be given special attention and to intensify the vaccination drive to ensure 100% coverage.
It also directed that vaccination of children of 15 to 18 years must be intensified.
The Chief Minister to hold video conference with the Deputy Commissioners and Chief Executive Officers of districts with low coverage of the second dose of vaccine.
CM participated in PM Gati Shakti meet
Earlier in the morning, the Chief Minister virtually participated in the PM Gati Shakti Southern Zonal meeting convened by Union Surface Transport and MSM Minister Nitan Gadkari.
Bommai lauded the contribution and foresight of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gadkari in improving the infrastructure in the country and said it has unleashed a new era in developing infrastructure.
He sought the minister’s intervention in the clearances from the Union Government, especially from the environment and forest ministries. He also wanted the Centre’s assistance in resolving inter-state disputes and also sort out problems in the financial sector attracting more investments to the infrastructure development projects.
The Chief Minister underscored the importance of expediting the implementation of the 453 kms long Bengaluru-Mysuru-Hyderabad High Speed Rail project as it will give a fillip for the development of the southern region.
With 330 kms long coastline, Karnataka provides ample opportunities for development of ports, trade, industry and tourism and offered all assistance from the State Government.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for a uniform Coastal Regulation Zone for the entire country so as to avoid unnecessary conflicts.
