A day after being named as star campaigner, RPN Singh resigns from Cong

New Delhi, Jan 25 (IANS): Senior Congress leader R.P.N. Singh resigned from the party on Tuesday, a day after being named as one of the party's star campaigners.

Sources said he was miffed over the party affairs in his home district of Padrauna as he was not taken into confidence on many issues related to the party functioning in his turf.

Singh tweeted: "Today, at a time, we are celebrating the formation of our great Republic, I begin a new chapter in my political journey. Jai Hind."

A former Union Minister of State for Home, Singh has been MLA and MP from the party and also was in-charge of the party in Jharkhand.

The Congress has been facing a major exodus of its leaders in Uttar Pradesh. Recently, three candidates named by the party switched sides to other parties.

Singh will be a high profile exit from UP Congress after Jitin Prasada, who quit the party and now is a minister in the Yogi government. Singh is an influential leader in his area, but could not win two consecutive elections on the Congress ticket.

R.P.N. Singh sent his resignation to the Congress President and wrote that he is resigning from the primary membership.

Singh is likely to join the BJP as he has changed his Twitter bio to "my motto, India first always."

Please do not blame the politicians, if they do not get seat to stand for elections or lucrative posts they will join any party to be relevant and in power. Till other day he was calling BJP a communal party today he has taken a dip in the ganges and joined the same party.

First try to bring in democracy in the Congress party. Have fair internal elections to elect a leader. Ask thyself how can someone who has lost 30 elections run for the PM. How can someone who has no experience in any capacity even at Taluk level, run for the CM post. Perhaps you will have your answers.

Like many Congress leaders, cadres, foot soldiers , RPN Singh too has realized that in Congress he would be just limited to be a Chela of the grand parivar. So its obvious. The others too will learn the hard way. The defections and major influx into regional parties too mirror this fact. Even at DK and Kudla level we see such major and drastic changes. BJP that was once distanced by the traditional factions have slowly started accepting it. Its the current craze of youngster who see some future. In Congress these soldiers would be sloganeering for the likes of Ramantha Rai and Poojari for 3-4 decades, but in regional parties, they are elevated to some ward secretary or something similar to begin with. Chances are given to perform. In other words, the ruling party is killin the future of its opposition .

Yes I agree, I have voiced this many times, and have been trolled, mocked and called an 'Bakth ' etc. The guys out here should step out of their comfort chair and venture outside. The influx is so great that ruling party leaders are now openly saying that they do NOT require votes from minorities. It hardly matters.

RPN Singh ! Ho ! One of the few left from the Grand Old Party ! Singh finally realized this... When his party leader only is the Star Campaigner for the Opposition .. what use his stars??. So now the Cong left with a ' Hand ' few or only a HAND?? To think that the party was once ruling UP !!! Phew !!
