Kozhikode, Feb 4: Huge amount of gold was seized from passengers arriving at Karipur International Airport, Kozhikode, on Thursday February 3. The customs officials said that 23 kg gold was confiscated from 22 persons. A person who had come to the airport to collect this gold was also taken into custody.
These 22 passengers came by seven flights from the Gulf. The operation was conducted based on confidential information received by the customs. Two cars were also seized in this connection. Four among the arrested people are women.

A person from Mangaluru who was waiting to collect this gold, was also taken into custody. After the restrictions were asked in the recent past, flights are seeing more passengers and the smuggling of gold has also increased. During the questioning, the officials go to know that a huge chain is operating this system and the customs are trying to reach to the bottom of this smuggling racket.
