Kasargod, Feb 4: The owner and labourers buried the dead body of the deceased worker in Kaniyala, Sudembala of Bayar, under the Manjeshwar police station limits.
The deceased is identified as Sibaj (35) of Jharkhand. He was working as a labour in Kaniyala farm. The incident came to light after one and a half months.
The incident was reported on December 21, 2021. The incident came to light when a relative of Sibaj and the owner of the farm were inquired.
It is learnt that the deceased was allegedly buried by the labourers and owner near a pond. The incident came to light after the investigation.
It is not clear as to how the death took place. The statements of Sabaji's relative and the owner of the house have created confusion among the police.
It is said that the victim had returned on December 20 from his native. From December 21 he went missing. When searched, his mortal remains were found in the pond of a farm, said his relative Sanjay.
The owner reported to the police that the incident occurred due to a short circuit while cutting branches of trees. Sanjay and the owner along with 18 labourers buried the dead body of the victim, informed the police.
Reportedly, a few locals got the information about the incident and they informed the Manjeshwara police.
Hence, the police questioned Sanjay and the farm owner. The two statements were not matching and the police got suspicious.
Forensic experts came to the spot and the mortal remains were sent to the post-mortem to Kannur Government Medical College. The canine squad also arrived at the spot.
