Mangalore: 30th Wilson Olivera Nite in City on Jan 9

Mangalore, Dec 27: Music maestro Sangeeth Sardar Wilson Olivera’s much awaited 30th Musical Nite organized by Alfred Bennis, will be held on Sunday January 9, at St. Agnes Special School ground, Bendore, from 6:00 pm.
Wilson Olivera
With over 800 compositions of his own in Konkani, Wilson has been bestowed with titles such as ‘Sangeeth Sardar’ by Expressions, and ‘Konkan Manik’ by KVWA, Kuwait. He has also been awarded with the prestigious, ‘Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award’ in 2003, and ‘Divo Sahitya Puraskar’ in 2008, among others. Wilson is not only known for his meaningful compositions but also for his melodious voice which has often been compared to that of Konkan Kogul late Wilfy Rebimbus.
‘Chandnem Udelam’, ‘Mai’, ‘Bombaichem Chedum’, ‘Pavshilya Disani’, Tuja Galancher’, ‘Mother Theresa’, ‘Cuckoo- Cuckoo’, are a few of his many successful hits. His fifth music album ‘Tuvem Gaitana’ which had the title song dedicated to Wilfy Rebimbus, besides ‘Mamma’ and ‘Air India Crash’ had many an audience teary-eyed. Wilson’s endless quench for music has resulted in five super hit music albums, as well as 29 successful shows in places like Mangalore, Bangalore, Mumbai, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.
Ronald Olivera
Wilson’s younger brother Ronald will be the compere for this show. Ronald has won the International Toast Masters Awards for four consecutive years and is a storehouse of humour, wit, and charm. He has also contributed a great deal to the world of Konkani music by compering shows for many famous artists like the legendary Wilfy Rebimbus, Henry D’Souza, Melwyn Peris, Claud D’Souza, Mick Max, Maxim Pereira, Esther Noronha, and even Goan Nightingale Lorna.
Joel Pereira
Sangeeth Guru Joel Pereira, who was considered to be the back bone of the jury for ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2010’, will conduct and direct this Musical Nite. Joel is a multi-talented personality and has been a music composer and arranger who has written and directed many religious plays also.
Singers like Pradeep Pinto, Prasanth Pinto, Zeena Pereira, and Babita Pinto, who have featured in ‘Tuvem Gaitana’ will also perform at the event along with other well-known singers such as Prakash Mahadevan, Prakash D’Souza, and Joseph Mathias.
Naach Sobhann
Me-Mo-Ri
The famous ‘Me-Mo-Ri’ comedy troupe will also perform and are sure to keep the audience entertained with their rib-tickling jokes and one liners.
‘Nach Sobhann’ dance troupe with their choreographer Avil D’Cruz, are another highlight of the evening.
