Robbery case accused apprehended in Manchi after car collision while fleeing police

Bantwal, Aug 20: In a dramatic incident on Tuesday, an accused in a robbery case under the Manjeshwar police station limits, who attempted to escape in a car, was finally nabbed after his vehicle collided with another car near Manchi.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Razik, along with Shibin and Syed Mohammad Ameen, had crossed over from the Manjeshwar region via Manchi route in a Tata Punch car. While speeding towards Bantwal, Razik’s car collided head-on with a Maruti Alto near Manchi. The Manjeshwar police, who were closely following the vehicle, immediately rushed to the spot.

Following the collision, Razik tried to escape on foot, but was eventually caught by the police. The other two accused in the car were apprehended on the spot.

Both cars sustained damage in the accident; however, no casualties were reported. Police sources revealed that Razik is not only an accused in a robbery case under the Manjeshwar station limits but is also wanted in connection with a previous warrant case. Acting on specific information, the Manjeshwar police had been tailing him from the beginning.

The accused was taken into custody by the Manjeshwar police from the Manchi accident site. Bantwal rural police inspector Shivakumar and his team also visited the spot and carried out an inspection.
