Mangaluru: Foundation stone for Konkani Bhavan to be laid on Feb 26 at Urwa Store

Mangaluru, Feb 23: The foundation stone laying ceremony of Konkani Bhavan will be held on February 26 at Urwa Store, informed president of Konkani Sahitya academy Dr K Jagadeesh Pai.

Addressing media here on Wednesday February 26, he said, “It was a long-pending demand of 27 years of having an own administrative building for the Konkani academy. A 35-cent land has been sanctioned under Kannada and Cultural department at Urwa Store. The government has sanctioned Rs 3 crore for the project.

“District in-charge minister Sunil Kumar will lay foundation stone for Konkani Bhavan. Minister for Social Welfare Kota Srinivas Poojary, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, MLC Prathap Simha Nayak, mayor Premananda Shetty, BJP leader CT Ravi, president of Tulu Sahitya Academy Dayananda Kattalsar, president of Beary Sahitya Academy Raheem Ucchil, corporator Ganesh Kulal and others will take part in the programme,” he said.

Registrar R Manohar Kamath, member Gopal Krishna Bhat, Canute Jeevan Pinto, Saanur Narasimha Kamath was present.
