Bengaluru: 'Power supply for agricultural pump sets CE’s responsibility’ - Sunil Kumar

Bengaluru, Feb 25: Energy minister V Sunil Kumar, warned that the chief engineers (CE) of the respective zones will be held responsible for the outages if any in the supply of uninterrupted power. As per the current norms, three face power supply has to be maintained for agricultural pump sets during the day for seven hours without any interruptions and also power for domestic consumers.

"During the three months of the summer, power supply has to be maintained for domestic use, commercial consumption, industrial use and agricultural pump sets. He held a meeting with the officials of electricity supply companies as well as Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd officials on Thursday. He advised the officials to make preparations to face the situation now itself.

He noted that the power consumption level in the state during the normal days is more than the previous year. "There is no power generation shortage. But in the matter of supply there have been defects," he pointed out. Therefore the officials were told by him to be watchful.
