Chikkamagaluru, Feb 25: The court at Narasimharajapura in the district where naxal leader, B G Krishnamurthy, was produced, remanded him to judicial custody till February 28. The judge of the JMFC court at N R Pura passed this order on Thursday February 24.

B G Krishnamurthy was in the forefront of naxal movement when naxals were active in Chikkamagaluru district. Over 53 cases were registered in different police stations against him in the district. After the naxal activities were hard hit here due to police operations and other problems, Krishnamurthy reportedly shifted base to other states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh where he worked in coordination with naxal groups. An Anti-Terrorism Squad of Kerala had arrested Krishnamurthy in Kerala along with Savitri, who also is from the Malnad region of Karnataka. It was about three months back.

The squad brought Krishnamurthy to Sringeri police station at around 1.30 am on Thursday and completed the questioning process. He was later led to Sringeri JMFC court with police protection. As the judge there was on leave, he was produced in N R Pura court.

When Krishnamurthy was presented in N R Pura court, the judge questioned him about the advocate representing Krishnamurthy. He said he would himself argue the case. When the judge posed him some questions, Krishnamurthy reportedly said that he does not have information about the cases standing against him and that the police have not provided the same to him.
