Davanagere: BJP candidates become mayor, deputy mayor for third term

Davanagere, Feb 26: The BJP has succeeded in winning the posts of the mayor and deputy mayor for the third successive term in Davanagere City Corporation.

In the election held on Friday February 26, Jayamma Gopi Naika of 30th ward was elected as the mayor while Gayatri Bai Khandoji Rao of the eighth ward was elected as deputy mayor. Jayamma won over Nagaratnammaof the Congress by a margin of four votes. In the deputy mayoral election, Gayatri Bai who got 29 votes, defeated Shweta Srinivas of the Congress who got 25 votes.
