Mangaluru, Feb 27: "This is not a protest against those who demolished the prayer centre but it is also against the MLA, Dr Bharath Shetty. Dr Bharath Shetty is responsible for the untoward incidents reported here," alleged DYFI state president Muneer Katipalla,
He was adressing a protest organised by the DYFI Panjimogaru in Kavoor junction against the demolition of the prayer centre here on Sunday, February 27.
Muneer said, "MLA has no words on development. There were many good MLAs from this constituency. But now we are seeing a very bad MLA. This MLA is trying to taint their achievement." Addressing the MLA passively, he said, "People are silently watching you. In the next elections, people will answer you properly."
Further attacking Dr Bharath Shetty, he said, "In the district, there are MLAs who came from Sangha Parivar. But, you came from Janatha Parivar. You are making communal speeches to provocate people. You are treating Muslims and Christians as like they are not human beings. You are becoming an example for very bad politics."
Katipalla said people had high expectations from Shetty as he was as a doctor and that he strive to maintain communal harmony in the constituency. "Despite being an MLA from the ruling party, he has completely failed. He has no achievements to project before your voters. He is trying to win the election by polarizing on communal basis," he alleged.
He accused the MLA of neglecting pressing issues like river pollution from industries and instead, dividing people communally to win elections. "After the demolition of the prayer centre, you failed to console the people of the community. People from all religions have gathered here for the answer," Muneer said poiting at Dr Bharath Shetty.
"The people who demolished the prayer centre came out of jail within 24 hours. Why can't you arrest the accused? All the accused who demolished the prayer centre must be arrested. They should be sent to jail. We are ready to go jail for the welfare of people," Muneer added.
