Kundapur, Feb 27: A man assaulted his pregnant wife and threatened to kill her if she failed to get more dowry from her parents' house.
Priyanka (21), resident of Hodroli of Beejadi village had a love affair with Pradeep, a resident of Barekattu and married him on October 25, 2021. For some time everything went fine. Afterwards Pradeep started pestering Priyanka to bring dowry from her parents. His father Prakash Poojary was also instigating his son to force Priyanka to get dowry.
On the night of February 22, Pradeep allegedly assaulted Priyanka, kicked her and burnt her body with cigarettes. He also threatened to kill her. In addition, he also made a video addressing Priyanka's parents to give away Rs 2 lac and 32 gms of gold.
A case in this connection is registered in Kundapur police station.
