Mangaluru: Dr Asode Ananthram Shetty conferred GAPIO award

Mangaluru, Feb 28: Dr Asode Ananthram Shetty has bagged the GAPIO award for his outstanding contribution. The award was given in a 12th GAPIO annual meet held in Kolkata on February 26.

He is a non-residence Indian settled in United Kingdom, originally hails from Udupi. He is also one of the leading knee and limb reconstruction Surgeons in the United Kingdom. He is recognised as one of the world expert in application of stem cell technology to treat patients.

He has been awarded the prestigious Hunterian Surgical Medal and Hunterian Professorship for 2017 by the Royal College of Surgeons of England, London. He has bagged Kannada Rajotsava Award (2018) for his contribution.

He is recognised as one of the finest surgical teachers and called as 'Surgeon of Surgeons' Professor A A Shetty was the winner of 2011 Laing & Buisson Surgical Innovation award in UK. Because of his teaching and training work in India he has been appointed as a visiting professor to MGR University, Tamil Nadu. He is also been appointed as an Adjunct Professor to NITTE university, Mangaluru, SDM Medical College, Dharwad, and KMC Manipal.
