Beltangady: Man on pilgrimage drowns at Dharmasthala

Beltangady, Mar 2: A person from Chikkamagaluru who had come to Dharmasthala by foot to undertake pilgrimage, drowned in River Netravati at the bathing bay at Dharmasthala on Tuesday March 1.

The deceased has been identified as Chandrashekhar (40) from Gowdanahalli in Chikkamagaluru district.

Chandashekhar was selling vegetables for a living. He had come to Dharmasthala by foot with his friend, Venkatesh. They had taken the Charmadi Ghat route to reach here. When he went to have a bath at the bathing bay here, he drowned. As he did not know how to swim, he drowned.

Post-mortem was performed at the Beltangady government hospital. A case was registered in Dharmasthala police station.
