Haveri, March 2 (IANS): The devastated family members of Naveen Shekarappa Gyanagoudar, who died in the shelling in war-torn Ukraine, are hoping that the deceased young man's body would be brought back to India at the earliest.
The family members till now have not got any specific inputs from the authorities on when their son's body would be brought back to the country.
Harsha, the brother of deceased Naveen, said on Wednesday said, "No one is confirming whether the body will be brought back. His body should be brought back to us. His friends are coming back alive and we are coping with the news of death," he said.
Shekarappa, Naveen's father, stated that he had lost his son and he wanted the government to bring back other boys alive to India. "Thousands of students are stuck in Ukraine, they are assets of our country. They should be brought back safely," he said.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has stated that he has appealed to the external affairs ministry on the recovery of the body in two or three days if it is not possible immediately. The body of Naveen is lying in a war zone, which has made things complicated for the authorities. This news has deepened the grief of the family and relatives of Naveen.
Rajashekara Gouda, the maternal uncle of Naveen blamed the system resulting in his death. "Naveen has scored 97 per cent in II PUC (12 class). He could not get a medical seat under the government quota. The family could not pay a donation and he had to go to Ukraine to fulfil his dream of becoming a doctor," he said.
Gouda said that Naveen had collected information from his friends and went to Ukraine to study medicine. He used to call every day and comforted his parents that nothing would happen to him. Naveen's father Shekarappa also expressed his anguish that because of caste and donation his son had to pay with his life. He has urged the government to bring back the body of his son.
Naveen was a topper at school and scored 606 marks out of 626 in SSLC (Class 10) examination. The deceased boy was supposed to take 8th semester exams in June. He was also planning to take up an internship. He had gone to Ukraine after II PUC.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, former CM B.S. Yediyurappa has personally spoken to the family of deceased Naveen and assured that all efforts would be made to bring back the body to India.

Wed, Mar 02 2022I was reading the comments and could not help but comment. Poor guy was in the worst affected area viz., city of Kharkiv. Latest is that, after bombing this city, Russian paratroopers have started take over this city. It was part of intense bombing. In a situation such as that, nobody will believe anyone/anything moving, let alone retrieving dead body from the mortuary. Niether Putin nor the Comedian can give assurances. I understand that there are many Indian students in that city that have taken refuge in the bunkers and have been instructed not to leave their bunkers. In a state of war, whoever fires the first bullet will live to fire the second or tell the story.

Wed, Mar 02 2022He would have alive in India and fulfilled his dream, if he would have been born in lower caste. Naveen has scored 97 per cent in II PUC (12 class) still he didn't get medical seat. Curse being born upper caste

Wed, Mar 02 2022It is unfortunate that a young life has gone, livelihood of a family has gone and dreams of a budding doctor are shattered. May Naveen enjoy his eternal rest we pray. May God grant his parents and other family members strength and courage to face this untimely demise of Naveen. All these students who are studying in Ukraine have gone there because of the cost of the study course is almost 25% of what they would have to pay here in India. So, all these students are brilliant and meritorious I am sure, but were unable to cope up high fees demands with Educational Mafia of Indian Educational Institutions. So Govt in state and center is not bothered much, other than big talks in news and big time assurances in media. Ground reality is that they are not really bothered much. Just imagine if there was a child of any influential person, entire media would have been blowing trumpets about this. Dear Govt Authorities, please have mercy on these helpless parents, who could not get their son back home alive, but at least allow him to have a decent dignified final rites at least. Our hearts break, imagine what is the state of parents of Naveen. Also imagine anxiety, fear and uncertainty of thousands of stranded students & their helpless families here in India.

Wed, Mar 02 2022Instead of protesting for jokes like 'Mekedatu'. Why cannot the Congress party gather and protest to bring back the mortal remains of deceased Naveen?

Wed, Mar 02 2022Wrong narratives created that students who do not pass NEET etc go outside INDIA -- to places like UKRAINE for studies-- fact of the matter is Naveen Shekarappa Gyanagoudar, obtained 95 % in Pre univ -- here in karnataka-- as reported-- basically could not afford high fees in INDIA --PVT medical fees nearly one crore full term whereas much much cheaper in UKRAINE -- Further Internationally recognised -- QUALITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE far superior -- in UKRAINE --etc etc-- A bright young student has sadly/ tragically lost his life in a International cross fire -- for no fault--

Wed, Mar 02 2022How will he get a free medical college seat when more than 60% are for reserved category candidates. The real cause of Naveen's death is the reservation. To please a certain section of society in the name of upliftment of the Scs and STs (privileged caste), the Indian government has stooped to a new low of depriving merit candidates and giving seats to rich SCs and STs. Shame on Modi government. Congress started it and BJP has made it worst. So many filing fake SC-ST cases, missing benefits of reservation, and on top of it shaming India internationally with false caste atrocity stories. They are no lower castes, they are privileged caste.
