New Delhi, Jun 20: Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India has issued a fresh recall affecting 30 high-end vehicles due to a potential fire risk stemming from incorrectly reworked fuse boxes. The issue could lead to sudden propulsion failure, malfunctioning safety systems, or even thermal incidents, the brand has stated.
As per the latest Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) report, the recall spans the brand’s top-tier models, including:
• 16 units of the EQS electric sedan
• 9 units of the flagship S-Class
• 3 units of the GLC SUV
• 2 units of the AMG SL 55 roadster
All the affected vehicles were manufactured between July 22, 2023, and March 20, 2024.
In an official statement, Mercedes-Benz noted:
“It has been identified that the fuse boxes might not have been reworked correctly. As a result, systems connected to the fuse might fail, and the vehicle might lose its propulsion without prior warning. The restraint functions or instrument cluster may also be impaired, increasing the risk of a crash and injuries. A potential risk of a thermal incident cannot be excluded under such conditions.”
The luxury automaker has confirmed that affected customers will be contacted individually, and the rectification will be carried out free of cost at authorised service centres.
This marks the sixth voluntary recall by Mercedes-Benz India in 2025. A similar fire-risk recall was announced in March, followed by others addressing software glitches, airbag issues, and fuel delivery concerns in models like the AMG GT, G-Class, and E-Class AMG earlier this year.
With an increasing emphasis on consumer safety and compliance, Mercedes-Benz India continues to proactively address potential risks in its fleet, urging owners to respond promptly to recall notifications.
