Karkala: Untimely rainfall throws normal life out of gear

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Mar 2: Rains appeared all of a sudden on Tuesday March 1 evening and drenched the rural belt of the taluk including villages like Edu, Mala, Mulikkaru, Koodye, Gummettu, Hosmar and Naravi. The rainfall was accompanied by lightning and thunder.

The region was enveloped by clouds from Tuesday afternoon. From 3 pm onward, rainfall began and continued for about an hour. The normal life of the people was thrown out of gear as no one expected it to rain.

In many cases, areca nuts which were spread out in the courtyards of farmers for drying became wet. At a few places, power outages were experienced.

Even though Karkala town and some other parts of the taluk had cloudy weather in the afternoon, they did not get any rainfall.
