Beltangady, Apr 24: A case has been registered against nine people, including a BJP leader for stripping and assaulting a woman belonging to the Adivasi tribe. In addition, it has also been alleged that the video of the Adivasi woman in semi-naked condition was filmed by the gang.
The accused of this inhuman crime have been identified as Sandeep, Santhosh, Lokaiah, Gulabi, Kusuma, Suguna, Anil, Lalitha and Chennakeshava. It is said that one of the gang members is the leader of ST morcha of the BJP.
This incident took place at Guripalla village of the taluk. It is said that the woman was attacked due to some property issue. It is said that clothes of the woman were torn and she was beaten up badly by this gang.
According to the details, officials had come to measure the land as per the application given by the victim woman under 94c. The assaulters raked up the issue with the land surveyors and they left the place. Once the officials left, the gang of nine people attacked the victim woman.
It is alleged that the gang first assaulted the elder sister of the victim woman. When the victim ran to protect her elder sister, the gang grabbed her and tore her clothes, made a video and assaulted her badly. In addition, the gang also assaulted mother of the victim. It is said in the complaint filed that the women could enter the house only after the nine people had left the place after creating the ruckus.
Beltangady police are investigating further.
