Bengaluru: Contractors urge CM to form retired judge committee to probe 40% commission issue

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Apr 26: Karnataka state contractors’ association appealed to CM Bommai to form a committed led by retired judge to monitor government works of more than Rs 50 crore value. They also urged the chief minister (CM) to cancel package system while approving tenders.

CM Basavaraj Bommai held discussion with the association of contractors on Monday, April 25 in the wake of the controversy of 40 percent commission alleged by the association against BJP government.

The contractors said that they are facing injustice due to package system of tenders. So separate tender needs to be announced for every government work.

The association requested the CM to block the system of bribing influential people within government departments and also control the 40% commission as bribe that is prevailing in the government departments since the BJP assumed power.

After meeting CM Bommai, D Kempanna, president of state contractors association, said, “I am still committed to my statement that 40% commission is sought as bribe by all the departments in Karnataka for government works. We will call a meeting on May 11 of state wide contractors and discuss our next step of protest. We have appealed to form a retired judge committee for us to provide documents as proof of our accusations.

“We have appraised CM Bommai of the issues faced by government contractors in the state. The main topics discussed were eradication of 40% commission as bribe, releasing of bills of contractors on time, cancellation of package system and releasing bills on the basis of first come first serve. The CM has responded positively. We have also requested not do revised estimation as this may also lead to more corruption.”

First take permission from their head quarters to proceed with legal point of view. They all are feathers of same folk who are united to defend party reputation, especially when Assembly elections are approaching. They investigate corruption charges only on opposition (Congress party) members without any proof or positive results.

Eshwarappa and the BJpians did not want the headache of asking for commission again and again. Instead introduced the package system to get 40% commission at one shot. We need a investigation for 1.8 km road constructed for 2.5 crores which was constructed in Sajipamooda village. Bomma and the high command are very well aware of the 40% saga. To save the face, Eeshwarappa was forced to resign.
