Kaup, Apr 26: Town police arrested an accused, who was absconding from appearing in court since 2016, in connection with a case pertaining to eight years ago, in which he is allegedly involved.
Nagana Gowda (39), resident of Meerakorana Halli of Vijayanagara district is the person who was apprehended by the police after six long years. He was arrested from his native place of Meerakorana Halli on April 24 and was produced before Udupi court. The court remanded the accused to 14 days of judicial custody.
According to the details, it is alleged that the accused send obscene messages to the mobile phone of a woman of Manipur village of Kaup taluk in 2014. He also made threatening calls to her saying that he will upload her pictures on social media. The said woman’s husband had filed a complaint against accused Gowda in Kaup police station. The accused had gone overseas. Udupi court had issued a warrant to search for the accused in 2016. The police were successful in arresting him as he had come back to his native place a month ago.
