Bengaluru deputy commissioner to probe charges against school for mandatory Bible study

Bengaluru, April 26 (IANS): J. Manjunath, the deputy commissioner (DC) of Bengaluru Urban, will begin a probe on the charges of mandatory Bible study in a city school.

The investigation is being initiated on Tuesday following the directions by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).

Hindu organisations have raised complaints on the Clarence High School for the imposition and the NCPCR has asked the Deputy Commissioner to submit the report within seven days.

The Commission stated that it has been brought to notice that the school has been imposing Christian religious views on children by making them study the Bible.

The school is also making it mandatory for them to attend Christian religious prayers daily in the morning, it added.

The Commission further stated that the students are involved in other Christian religious activities and the same has also been mentioned on the school's website.

As per the complaint there is prima facie contravention of the Article 25 and Article 28 (3) of the Indian constitution, provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, statement by NCPCR said.

The Hindu Jana Jagruthi Samithi had earlier alleged that the students are made to read the Bible everyday compulsorily.

All students are given a Bible which is the form of a booklet, they are told to carry it every day. If anyone objects, they will be threatened with cancellation of admissions, they alleged.

Pramod Muthalik, Founder of Sri Ram Sena reacting to the incident, had asked the school management to keep the Bible at their homes and churches.

State Education Minister B.C. Nagesh clarified that there is no provision for making the Bible reading compulsory in schools, if it is found to be true, action will be initiated against the school.

HUMAN India UAE.please be calm ,dont get upset.the rumours should be first investigated and then action.Every day something or other .Let the locals answer it .Parents are there to see.Have to prove it.It is not unusual in schools pray first before school beginns. If Hindu student is there dont want to pray ,let him pray his prayers. So simple is thisIf Hindu student is there he can choose a different school. So simple is this.

all religious books should be kept out of mainstream educational institutions... no giita, no bibile, no Quran... religious education can be done by churches, temples, mosques... as a separate activity not clubbed with education... Even for hindu, gita learning cannot be made compulsory in school... same goes for christians and muslims... students enrol because of the quality of education... not to learn religion... if parents want religious education for their wards, get it from temple, church or mosque... Parents should have the option for their chidden to get / or not to get religious education through school (even if it is their own religion)...

'Love your enemy' - that is the problem. Motive of these people is creating more enemies, turning each community as an enemy against the other community. Only then they have benefit of votes.

Bible is the core of Christian faith. No body can threaten Christians for reading Bible or teaching Bible. Henceforth Bible should be made mandatory in all Christian Schools in the Academic year 2022-2023. For business sake let Christian Schools not compromise on teaching Bible. People of other faiths need quality education given by the Christians Schools plus they want to dictate terms to the school management.

Schools run by Christians must teach Bible without fail. No body can stop them from teaching Bible. People of other faiths have freedom to send their children to Christian Schools or not. But they cant dictate terms to the school management.

Muthalik ( pinky) I think you need to start reading Bible, you don't need to convert to Christianity, but it will help you to lead a beautiful life in this earth, I am sure you are not following your Hindu religion, that's the reason you are a venomous snake in this earth, just sit down and reflect your life, what you have achieved while you are on your life journey? Karma will follow you, god bless you.
