Mangaluru: Huge banner crashes on parked vehicles, traffic disrupted

Mangaluru, Apr 26: A huge banner crashed down out of the blues and damaged three cars parked near the Clock Tower here on Tuesday, April 26.

Fire service personnel who arrived at the spot cleared the cars from under the banner.

Senior national powerlifting championships will be held at the Town Hall here from April 27 to April 30. Its massive banner was erected near the Town Hall gate. However, it fell on three cars parked nearby at about 1.45 PM. Pandeshwar fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and vacated the cars from under the banner.

The cars have been scratched in the fall. Traffic was disrupted for some time. As there was nobody below the banner, there were no casualties. The banner was being shifted from the spot, whe reports last came in.

    Proper licensing procedure must come into force... We are going into stormy season soon... Design of large temporary structures must be pre-approved... Also they must go through official checks and sign offs for use in public space... Lucky no one is injured...

    Indian Abudhabi,dont take to heart.He too is a Engineer,so it comes back to him too.Now who planned the banner has to bleed for the cost of cars and fire brigade personnel
