New Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS) A 44-year-old man, accused of duping around 1,000 investors to the tune of several crores of rupees, committed suicide by leaping off the roof of his office in west Delhi, police said Wednesday.

Subhash Agrawal, a resident of Prem Nagar in Aman Vihar area of west Delhi, leapt to his death Tuesday afternoon from his office located near his home.

"Agrawal left his house at around 7.30 a.m., saying that he was going to meet someone. Hours later, he was spotted lying in a pool of blood outside his office," said a senior police officer.

He was rushed to Sonia Hospital, from where he was referred to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital.

"He died on way to Agrasen hospital," the police officer said.

Police said primary investigations suggested it was a case of suicide. However, no suicide note was found.

"We are interrogating friends and relatives of Agrawal," the police officer added.

Subhas was accused of cheating around 1,000 persons to the tune of several crores of rupees in 2009.

He and two of his associates ran a fake company Stop Loss Commodity Pvt, where they used to promise high returns on investments made in their firm.

Agarwal was out on bail since Feb 10, and was living with his wife and two sons at his Prem Nagar residence.

Agrawal's family told police that he was stressed over the case for the past two years.
