Bengaluru: Students face inconvenience to get admission into degree classes

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bangaluru, Jun 24: All colleges and universities in the state have begun the admission process for various degree courses as soon as the PU results were announced. Students also are getting information of different courses and combinations.

The bottleneck is the mandatory requirement of admission through the online process on http://uucms.karnataka.gov.in which the education department has made ready. This site is not working properly. Mapping of many colleges and courses is still pending on the site. This has caused hurdle to students as well as the administrative committees of colleges.

UUCMS was implemented last year and instructions were given to hold admission through online. However, it did not work properly. This year too the website is having problems in the beginning itself. Students are complaining that they are not getting the information of colleges and courses properly on the site. Even the college administrative committees are unhappy about the website.

The college administrative committees are cursing the education department for making the online admission mandatory. They are questioning the necessity of forcing the online process when the website itself is not completely ready. This will delay the admission process and the beginning of classes, which will affect the examinations also.

There are 430 government and private aided colleges in the state. Every year 2.5 lac students get admitted to degree classes.
