Rs 5,000 'Kashi Yatra Subsidy' scheme launched in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Jul 15 (IANS): Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday launched the state government's Rs 5,000 'Kashi Yatra Subsidy' scheme.

The Chief Minister formally launched the scheme by distributing the subsidy cheques for the beneficiary pilgrims at a programme in the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha.

Speaking at the function organised by the Muzrai department, Bommai said this is a new scheme.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has renovated Kashi by building the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor.

"Kashi is a major pilgrimage centre evoking the spiritual faith of the people. The facilities and amenities for pilgrims were very poor earlier. Now, it has been totally transformed. Varanasi has direct air, rail and bus connectivity," he said.

"As a result there is a huge rise in the number of pilgrims visiting Kashi. Today we are distributing subsidy cheques for 10 pilgrims. In the coming days it would be transferred directly through the DBT system for pilgrims," Bommai said.

"The banks of river Ganga have been cleaned. About 23 Ghats have been renovated. The Kashi Vishwanath Corridor has been developed in such a way that the pilgrims could walk directly from the Ganga Ghats to Vishwantha temple. I congratulate Prime Minister Modi for this good work," the Karnataka Chief Minister said.

Apart from providing a Rs 5,000 subsidy, the state government has made arrangements for safe and comfortable journey by a separate train, accommodation facilities at Kashi to make the pilgrimage a safe and pleasant experience, Bommai added.

The government has spent over Rs. 13,000 crores on Kashi development, in COVID, only because it is Namo's constituency. Even so, there is no recovery of that funds, because the idea of paying tax is like agreeing to becoming a leper in Uttar Pradesh. Highest population, lowest taxes, all working in Maharashtra, Delhi, South, paying no tax. Living on ration, so here, government will show high income for UP in coming elections by sponsoring people to travel to Kashi. If instead, they offer LPG subsidy, petrol subsidy etc. they cannot claim the benefit in election na. Rupees value is falling drastically, they have no way to show face. So this jumla is now out, newly minted. People get Haj concession, we are giving Kashi concession.

100 percent traveller to Kashi yatra financially sound peoples, because return flight ticket to Kashi (nearest Airport Varanasi) will cost nearly Rs.15000/-. so labor class or other economically backsword class people wont benefit this scheme. Tax payers money only benefit to financially sound pepole. Poor's only able to make yatra Kukke Subramania, Dharmastala and Kollur Mukambika by bus.

This man all the time sing the same song of PM Modi. Do something productive valuable to everyone without singing same religious stuff. If you are so much in religious stuff it is better join Sanyas than in politics . Politicians should only work towards governance of state within thier role than mixing religions into politics.
