Bengaluru, Jul 15: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai held a review with Deputy Commissioners of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkaballapur, Hassan, Bidar, Belagavi, Kalaburgi, Haveri, Mysuru, Mandya, Dharwad, Davangere, Yadgiri, Bagalokot, Vijayapur, Chamarajanagar and Ballari districts through video conferencing from Devanahalli on Friday.
The Chief Minister has issued an official note to State Finance Department Additional Chief Secretary ISN Prasad on releasing Rs 500 crore for undertaking relief and rehabilitation measures in all the affected districts.
In his official note, Bommai has pointed out that people of several districts were severely affected due to basic infrastructure facilities like roads, bridges, schools, anganawadis centres, snapping of power supply lines and uprooting of electricity poles besides damages to primary health centres and other buildings and has directed that urgent steps must be taken for repairs.
The Chief Minister mentioned that he had personally inspected the extent of damages and the loss of properties during his recent tour of the affected districts and said urgent relief and rehabilitation were necessary.
The video conferencing was held with the district Deputy Commissioners from a private hotel in Devanahalli on the flood situation and heavy rain havoc in several districts.
Apart from the Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers from the respective districts participated in the video conference.
Revenue Minister R Ashok, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary N Manjunath Prasad, Disaster Management Unit head Dr Manoj and other senior officials were present.
