Kasargod: Under-trial who escaped from police custody arrested

Kasargod, Jul 15: Vidyanagar station police personnel arrested an under-trial accused who hoodwinked the police and escaped from their clutches when he was being escorted by them after being produced in the court.

The absconding accused is identified as Ahmed Kabir (26), a resident of Anangoor. The police who had received definite clue that he was hiding in a deserted spot behind a residential quarters at Edaneeru, found him there, and took him into custody on Friday July 15 evening.

Kabir had escaped when being escorted to a nearby canteen after he was produced in the court on July 13.

He was arrested in a case of drug peddling and was in judicial custody at Kannur central jail. Police had arrested on Thursday, Javed from Alampady, who had helped the Kabir to flee.
