Udupi, Jul 16: A resident of Dongarakeri in the city fell on the railway tracks from a running train after losing balance and died near Kedoor Sri Mahakali temple on the night of Thursday.
Nithyananda Shet (52) is the unfortunate victim of this tragedy. He was travelling to Mangaluru from Mumbai on Mangala Lakshadweepa express. He was accompanied by his society members. They were returning after attending a Chaturmasa religious programme of a seer at Kanakavalli of Maharashtra.
Deceased Shet is unmarried and was working in a food manufacturing factory of Mangaluru.
The matter came to light only when the train reached Kankanady railway station. When his companions searched for him, he was not on the train. His mobile phone was switched off.
At around 8.30 AM the body of a man was found on railway tracks at Kedoor. As the mobile was also found near the body, his identity could be established through the sim card.
