Udupi: Man falls from train, dies; mobile phone gives away clue

Udupi, Jul 16: A resident of Dongarakeri in the city fell on the railway tracks from a running train after losing balance and died near Kedoor Sri Mahakali temple on the night of Thursday.

Nithyananda Shet (52) is the unfortunate victim of this tragedy. He was travelling to Mangaluru from Mumbai on Mangala Lakshadweepa express. He was accompanied by his society members. They were returning after attending a Chaturmasa religious programme of a seer at Kanakavalli of Maharashtra.

Deceased Shet is unmarried and was working in a food manufacturing factory of Mangaluru.

The matter came to light only when the train reached Kankanady railway station. When his companions searched for him, he was not on the train. His mobile phone was switched off.

At around 8.30 AM the body of a man was found on railway tracks at Kedoor. As the mobile was also found near the body, his identity could be established through the sim card.

    Main reason is people keep the doors open even when the train is running. During night time slight loss of balance and you fall out of train. Happens many times. But safety is not the priority in India mostly.

    Sorry to note this incident.Rainy season travelling in train or city bus one must take enough care about footwear for example slippers or even with belts if they become flat from underneath then dangerous. Secondly steel or chrome coated rods are extremely slippery even you catch rods will slip in rainy season. You may fall from top to bottom of rod thrown out of speeding Vehicle, Take care with precaution while you catch journey with train or bus.

    On the subject of slipping, the interlocking tiles and concrete surfaces also tend to develop a moss, which thrives on frequently unused areas and is extremely slippery with any kind of footwear and a fall on the hard surface; if the hit is taken on the head could be fatal especially for the elderly; the moss needs to be cleaned regularly with slaked lime or bleaching powder!!

    one more addition to the safety less travel in third world country....cannot help...we send man on mooon but does not take care to make our trains have locked doors while it is running

    A moment of carelessness may mean a lifetime of regret. Sometimes, people sit or stand at the door of a running train. With a forceful of wind, the door of the compartment shuts with force, throwing out the person. Those who want to sit or stand, should hold the rail of the door securely, while the train is in motion, and should not play with the destiny. May his soul rest in peace and surely All Mighty God will welcome him with open arms, since he died after worshipping the Glory of God.

    It's a regular feature in Mumbai for many to hang out side a fully packed local train with only half part of the feet to stand and holding the slot of the door frame, but seldom people get killed considering the vast number of people who travel in Mumbai locals?? This guy was destined to die!!
