The state committee of Campus Front of India was conducting a ‘Girls’ conference here at Town hall on Saturday, July 16, with a tagline "ensure freedom of choice and uphold democratically values." After they were denied permission, the girls gathered at Milagres for a rally to the Town Hall. Police Commissioner N Shashikumar convinced them and sent them to Town Hall in a bus.

Permission was given only for the programme but not for the rally. However, girls were adamant to continue to hold their rally, Police Commissioner N Shashikumar warned them that they would be denied permission to hold the programme as well before they were sent in a bus to the Town Hall.

The students alleged that government had stopped their rally through police intervention.
