Bengaluru, Jul 20: School Education and Literacy Minister B C Nagesh clarified that there is no proposal before the government to introduce a separate syllabus for madrasas in the state.

Speaking to journalists at the Bengaluru Press Club, he said in line with the Uttar Pradesh government’s decision to introduce general subjects in madrasas, Nagesh said efforts will be made to incorporate mainstream subjects like science, maths, and English in madrasas. He noted that attendance in Urdu schools have reduced drastically and students want to learn more subjects.

“We have got recommendations to change the syllabus in madrasas and incorporate subjects like maths, English and science. No decision has been taken on this yet but we will implement this,” he said.

Meanwhile, the minister has also directed his department to issue a circular requiring schools and madrasas to hoist the national tricolour between August 11 and 17 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava celebrations.

Nagesh said it is mandatory to hoist the national flag at schools, pre-university colleges and madrasas. The higher education department has already issued a circular asking all degree colleges and universities to hoist the national tricolour between August 11 and 17.

Mr. Nagesh, please think of how to fulfill with pending syllabus that students suffered during Covid19 on line classes. Don't do the test bench trails on the students at time. As Education minister, Understand the difficulties faced by student and try to solve it instead of new trail and error methods.
