Mangaluru, Jul 20: Dakshina Kannada BJP Economic Cell, on Wednesday July 20, gave insights of the vivid government programmes and policies for the welfare of the common people.

Addressing media, convenor district BJP economic cell, CA Shantaram Shetty said that it was the prime responsibility that the government to serve the public driven with the aim of the revolutionary concept, ‘sabka sath sabka vikas’. “Despite such development programmes and various welfare measure, it was disappointing to find that the rural areas lacked awareness on the essential matters such as linking BPL cards, unavailability of Ayushman card, less loans being taken and many other instances suggest that that the people were quite unaware of these beneficial schemes and economic policies. The government is striving to reach out to them at the earliest,” he said.

CA S S Nayak, the co-convener added that the central government had essayed time and again to solve the crisis of unemployment and had subsequently released various ideas, programs for the same. He shed light on various benefiting schemes initiated for entrepreneurs from humble backgrounds and other local businesses owners.

“In 2016, many programmes people were initiated and the rapid employment drive benefitted numerous people. The local businesses had flourished too. To facilitate small and medium enterprises, the Central Government had come ahead with the website MSME, ‘Champions’, which provided much required information and guidance. The Skill India Scheme nurtured national skill development and provided skill training to all the unemployed youth of the county. The CGTMSE Loan Guarantee Scheme had set a target for banks to provide unsecured loans up to Rs. 2 Crore to all eligible entrepreneurs,” he shared.

In response to levying GST on essential goods, CA Yashaswini shared that the decision was taken with a need to raise the GDP. “An Economic analysis to this step would be to understand the underlying conditions that have provoked the government to take this step. While it is evident to complain of taxes being imposed on essential goods, we must view this from a thoughtful perspective. We need to take note of the inflation at global scenario and the review committees are relentlessly working on it. Hence, the decision has been made due to the prevailing economic conditions and not with the motive of burdening the citizens with these expenses.”

Rajesh Rao, a member of the group shared that for any government to function, money would be derived essentially from either taxes or loans. “As compared to other countries, we are quite well off in terms of debts and other aspects. Despite the prevailing conditions of government debt, energy crisis, tax liability etc, we are aiming at significantly raising our exports,” he said.
