Puttur, Jul 21: Residents of Nellikatte and Otagajje under the limits of Aithooru gram panchayat in Kadaba taluk are put to inconvenience by the gram panchayat. The approach road to the village has been dug up to develop the same.
Due to copious rainfall, the whole road has turned into slime. Vehicles are unable to access this road as there is a chance of the vehicles’ tyres getting stuck. Even for pedestrians danger is looming.
People of these villages depend on nearby villages for their daily needs. However, as there is no road, they are unable to bring the essentials home.
Students of the villages have to tread nearly two kilometer on railway bridge and cross dangerous electrical wires to reach their school. Railway bridges are constructed 50 feet above the ground as this is a hilly area. There is no protection for these bridges on either side. When children walk on the tracks and if a train arrives there is no chance for them to go to one side and stand.
After crossing the bridges and the railway tracks, the children have to walk through rubber plantations of the government, where electrical fencing has been done throughout the farm. When the children go to school, the electricity connection is switched off temporarily.
Though these issues are brought to the notice of Kadaba tahsildar and panchayat it has fallen on deaf ears. Villagers are cursing their fate and taking huge risk on the lives of their children to get them educated.
