Mangaluru, Jul 30: Heavy rains have been lashing in the district of Dakshina Kannada for the past 3 hours on Saturday July 30, including the city of Mangaluru.
The roads inside the city are submerged. Heavy water-logging is witnessed is many areas. Motorists were seen struggling to move their vehicles through the submerged roads. Water also gushed into the premises of Mangaluru Central railway station.
The ground floors of many buildings in Attavar were completely submerged in water causing loss of crores of rupees. The commuters were having a tough time moving past the national highway near Pumpwell and Padil. Traffic was completely disrupted from Kulshekar to Nanthoor and people were found stranded for more than an hour, when reports last came in.
Rain fury has been reported from Kottara Chowki and several other localities in the city.
Schools and colleges under Mangaluru City Corpotration have been already given a holiday on Saturday due to the heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning.
