Udupi, Jul 30: MLA Raghupati Bhat said SDPI and PFI organisations should be banned from Muslim society adding that the educated Muslims should become aware of the activities of the two organisations that are bringing disrepute to the entire minority community.
He was speaking to newspersons and answering queries pertaining to the serial killings that have rocked the coastal districts. He said the activities carried out by SDPI and PFI had created an impression and one of looking at minorities with suspicion. He urged the Muslims to keep these organisations out of their society or banish them. He said they had fanned controversy regarding the use of hijab in educational institutions and added that it is necessary for the Muslims to keep them away so that the principles of secularism are followed and communal harmony is maintained in society.
"The BJP workers were tensed after the murder of Praveen Nettaru. The investigation has been handed over to the NIA which will study the conspiracy behind the killings and expectedly also study the upcoming ones," he said.
MLA Bhat said when the hijab controversy erupted it was known that there were foreign links and conspiracies attached to it. He said it was expected that the controversy would take an ugly turn but it was not expected to become violent that would result in murders.
He said the lives of BJP workers are precious and these incidents would not be taken lightly, urging that such elements would be dealt with firmly.
Answering a query regarding the college students who had fanned the hijab row he said most of the students were following the rules and attending to their classes excepting the six of them.
