Chikkamagaluru, Aug 2: A village that did not see a bus for 75 years after India attained independence celebrated when the first bus arrived.
Bus facility was not available for four to five villages of Heggudlu, Mathikatte, Doddanandi of Banakal Hobali of Moodigere taluk of the district. More than 250 families live in these areas.
In order to come to Banakal Hobali, people of these villages had to walk for five to seven km. Even the students going for schools and colleges had to tread this distance every day. Now Moodigere MLA M P Kumaraswamy provided a bus after decades of appeal of the people of this locality.
This bus, which will run twice a day, will arrive in the morning and evening to the village. The facility will be very convenient to villagers, especially school going students. There was no proper road also to these villages. Now roads are built at a cost of Rs two crore and villagers are happy.
MLA Kumaraswamy, who inaugurated the first trip of the bus, took a ride from Mathikatte village to Banakal along with locals.
