New Delhi, Aug 2: Union minister of state Shobha Karandalaje met union home minister Amit Shah to thank him for handing over the investigation of Praveen Nettaru murder case to NIA. It may be recalled that Karandlaje had written to Shah seeking exemplary punishments to the perpetrators.
Shobha Karandalaje, in her meeting with Amit Shah, apprised him of the radical activities taking place in the coastal regions of Karnataka bordering Kerala. She also told him how radical Islamist groups from Kerala had "transgressed into areas like Mangaluru to commit heinous crimes against Sangh and BJP workers in Karnataka."
Further, she appealed to Amit Shah to augment the NIA office in Bengaluru to keep a tab on the fundamentalist, preempt Islamic terror and fast-track investigations in Mangaluru. "Mangaluru, owing to its closeness to Kerala, is fast becoming a fertile ground for Islamists. Security agencies in the past have unravelled modules operating from Mangaluru. The augmentation of the NIA office in Bengaluru will help in nipping jihadis in the bud in Mangaluru," Shobha Karandlanje stated.
