Poojary to Quit Politics if BJP Sweeps Bye-poll Seats

Poojary to Quit Politics if BJP Sweeps Bye-poll Seats

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (RD/SB)

Bangalore, Apr 7: Janardhan Poojary, former union finance minister and veteran Congress leader challenged Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa that he would quit politics if the BJP wins the forthcoming by-elections in three constituencies of Bangarapete, Jagalur and Chennapattana.

Addressing the media persons here on Thursday April 7, Janardhan Poojary who has arrived to campaign in these three constituencies said that if BJP wins in all the three constituencies, he would quit politics. However, he sought the resignation of CM Yeddyurappa if BJP fails to win at least in one constituency among the three.

Meanwhile, Janardhan Poojary urged CM Yeddyurappa to accept the open challenge posed by him. Further, he said that it’s due to the Operation Lotus by the BJP-led state administration, the need to hold the by-elections have arisen in the state.
Meanwhile, he urged the sensible voters of these three constituencies to teach a lesson to BJP by voting against them.
"Although, there are several allegations of corruption on CM Yeddyurappa, he continues to stick to the power in disgrace," stated Poojary adding that Yeddy seems to be more powerful than the BJP high command who dare not to sack him.

ONGC was bought to Mangalore by Vajpayee, Then UPA came to power, Mani shankar Aiyar became the Petroleum minister, He made all the efforts to take ONGC to Tamilnadu and it was almost finalised, Mr.Poojary was the one who fought in Rajya Sabha against this and his good rapport with the PM and Sonia Gandhi got us the justice.
Its not only ONGC there are many other work which he has done gone unnoticed.

Nithin Poojary, Mangalore/UK the major development which our twin districts had was only during the time of Ullal Srinivas Mallya and Pai's of Manipal. Also not to forget Sir George Fernandez contribution to our district especially konkan railway project. Apart from those people i dont think so there are any other politicians or MP's contributed much for the development of districts.

After reading all the comments I am constrained to conclude that BJP failed in his political life for the following reasons. In 1984 when he became Financ minister(state) for Banking he was distinctly different.High head weight, talking rough, palyed cast politics openly & extensively between billavas and others mainly bunts and GSBs.When other than billavas went to him for any help he openly was asking whether you are a BJP man.Later years he was little bit came down and after loosing elections he was a calm man trying to coniseder every body equally. So he became a good leader. As Nithin says he is not a polician but I am astonished why during Mangalore dasara he leads the procession only accompanying congress leaders, why photo secession of hore kanike to Ulla darga is with only congress leaders. This is beyond my imagination. How ever he is a good leader. When he is compared with other popular poliitical leaders of the district like Srinivas Mallya,TA Pai,George who have not at all repaired any roads have made great contributions to the district.George Fernandes has gifted Konkan railway for Mangalore which was other wise impossible for any other leaders. So for having repaired car street road during navaratri times, can we attribute him to be leader. If yes, no problem.Nitin may be indebted to BJP for obvious reasins which is understood and OK.There can not be two openions as regarding Poojary's integrity, non corrupt nature. He is victim of conspiracy by his own party men.

In todays politics we need money to win elections, take for example Manmohan Singh he lost election in 1999, then he never contested any election because he dosent have black money.
Even today Mr.Poojary dosent own a car in Delhi, he uses taxi to travel in Delhi. How can he win the election dude.

VERY TRUE AND WELL SAID MR.NITIN
This is to all the comments below who criticized Mr.Poojary

Mr.POOJARY IS NOT A POLITICIAN HE IS A LEADER WHO DOSEN'T NEED POWER TO RULE.

To support my above Quote i would like to give a example, in 2008 when Venkataramana Temple in Mangalore Car street was ready for car festival, the roads where in pathetic condition, the temple management approached Yogeesh Bhat and the local BJP mayor for repairs, they denied to repair the roads giving the reason shortage of funds, later the temple management approached Mr.Poojary, he collected money from public and constructed the road, If you don't believe me you can check with the temple management. He did not had any power at that time.
Why iam saying this is because people trust Mr.Poojary because he is a sincere leader.
Now tell me guys if he retires who will replace him in todays dirty politics

JP had to do this since the procession of Kudroli sharada is also passes through carstreet and the temple management brought to the notice of JP, and people didnt pay money for it , it was MCC who paid money for the patch work...

I think you have forgot the maker of our district Mr ullal srinivas mallya who has contributed a lot for our districts. mangalore port, mangalore airport, ullal bridge, nitk etc are the major contributions of mallya. Poojary collected money from the Public ???? and constructed roads ? are you kidding me ? How many thousands did he collect ? and when did people of mangalore become so generous to give money to politicians for devlopment work.
Now I am not telling that Poojary didnt do that work because I dont knwo anythign about it & since Mr Nithin says it I will belive it also, but not at the expense of public collected funds. In Congress party there is no draught for funds as far as it is blessed with the management of Gandhi/Qwattrochi Fly, and blessed with the partners Like Karunannidhi, Pawar etc. If anyone can get out the money these above people have stashed since last many decades from SWISS bank they can uproot the whole roadnetwork on India and make it a state of the art again. So to impress people we deffinitly know where the funds are coming from. Never mind as fas as the funds are relased for good work, we dont care from where is it coming from. Good think Mr Nithin dint shock me by telling he did it from his pockets. But not forget if not for his caste pilitics, he is Mr Clean.

@Satish Kunder, Mangalore/Kuwait you comment that none of the MP's worked for our districts after Poojary sir i agree with you, but Mr Poojary sir was also the member of Rajyasabha even he could have worked for our districts instead of blaming BJP or other parties everytime. If you are only talking about Poojary sir then about Geordge Fernandez sir who worked for our district that too not being the MP of our districts. The Konkan railway and Karwar sea bird are the major projects given by him for our both coastal districts. I think no one should forget that also.

@ K.T Managalore, under the circumstances JP remained as 'MR CLEAN' till today and the same question I can ask you that what Sada,Nalin are doing in DK/UDUPI/DK as a MP?Nalin Kumar aleways inagurating Kambala,Kabadi........What is his project or contribution to the development of DK? Forget him what did Sadanda Gowda for Managalore? As a president of Party and MP,he had more opportunities to bring more projects to Managalore as his party was in power @ Centre(NDA) and now in the state. So as Anna propagating corruption free India but Mr Poojari remaind non corrupt for fourty years in politics which should be appriciated by all.

Even if BJP loose all the 3 seats, no need for Yeddy to resign, he still has absolute majority. Yeddy is still ruling despite gone through several Agni Pariksha's since last 3yrs but never had a single scratch. well said, ISMAIL K PERINJE, PERINJE/YANBU-KSA, me too watched the same and was so suprised to see poor people demanding cash money to cast their vote. Today Mr.Janardhana Poojary may not be holding any position in politics but he has left a mark by his simplicity and non corrupt practices.

Even though his straight forward talks were one of the reasons for his downfall, it is commendable that still maintains the same standard in his talk. He had displayed this even in number of discussions in the parliament.

We had many MPs representing Mangalore after him but nobody left the mark for the people to remember. When other MPs built the castles and are venturing into business in gulf (with the black money acquired during their tenure) this man still maintains the simple life.

I had many opportunities to meet him one to one (when he was MP and minister) and seen his eagerness to help the poor and needy. We are lucky to have one such a selfless political leader when the total political sphere is filled with corrupt and dishonest people.

Overnight BJP sanctioned crores of rupees to temples in Chennapatna after 'NEETHI SANHITHE' is on force!!BJP misused all norms of democracy and misusing govt machinaries in these 3 by elections constituencies.Hope People would taech a lesson to YEDDY that all the times money can't buy votes for him and his corrupt party and SHREE JANARDHANA POOJARI will remain in politics some more years to serve the people of Karnataka/India.
