Bengaluru, Aug 24: For the first time in the entire country, Karnataka has come out with exclusive Health Vision Document.
“This is a historical occasion for Karnataka’s Health Department to have a separate cadre for the Health and Medical Education Department,’’ Dr K Sudhakar, Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education Department Minister said at the National Doctors Day celebration in Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who inaugurated the Doctors Day celebrations organised by the State Health and Medical Education Department, also released the Karnataka Health Vision Document.
Dr Sudhakar explained that a high-level panel headed by Dr Gururaj had done lot of research, studies and meetings over the last one year consulting over 250 Doctors to prepare the Vision Document, which incorporates the best practices in the country and also in other countries.
Tele Medicine, Health Services from the rural areas till the third stage and other key aspects are part of the Vision Document, copies of which will be submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Chief Ministers as well, the minister said.
Dr Sudhakar said the government was unable to form a separate cadre for the Health Department. A committee was formed to study and come out with recommendations and the cadre is created based on the recommendations, he said.
The minister said the State Government under Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s leadership has given the highest priority for improving rural health services. As many as 100 community health centres are being established in the northern Karnataka region, especially in the backward districts.
Namma Clinics are being set up in urban areas, especially in areas predominantly having BPL families, he said promising 243 clinics in Bengaluru in the next two months.
Dr Sudhakar said Karnataka has emerged as the second State in E-Sanjeevini services and has already held 50 lakh consultations. It is a very happy augury that people in rural areas have been making use of the E-Sanjeevini facilities, he said pointing out that State has rendered counselling to Covid patients.
The behavior and conduct of some doctors was tarnishing the image of the medical profession, he said urging the doctors to shun such behaviour and seriously examine remedial measures.
