Bantwal, Aug 27: Ramakrishna Kamath (50), poor petty shop vendor suddenly fell ill after the sudden petty shop clearance drive undertaken by Manchi gram panchayat (GP).
Kamath used to run a canteen in a push cart in Kukkaje market area. The gram panchayat without giving any notice took away the push cart. Kamath suffered high BP due to the shock of taking away his livelihood by the gram panchayat and is admitted to First Neuro hospital at Adyar.
Kamath was familiar with the public of Manchi and used to mind his own business. There are many other illegal activities going on under the limits of Manchi gram panchayat. However, the gram panchayat targeted a poor roadside vendor and took his push cart. Public is expressing rage on social media.
BJP supporters themselves are angry on the Manchi gram panchayat run by the party. On social media they wrote, “Development in Manchi, where BJP is in power is zero. The president of the gram panchayat has used the officials and has waged war against the poor vendor from his same community as well as supporter of BJP.”
“If the gram panchayat has the guts to follow law, it should take action against the illegal activities that are brought to its notice. What is the achievement by conducting atrocity on a poor vendor?” questioned the netizens.
Though poor vendor Ramakrishna Kamath is ready to pay fine and take his push cart back, the panchayat administration is harassing him without returning the push cart since two days. Due to the same reason, it is said, he took severely ill and is admitted in private hospital in Mangaluru.
