Udupi, Aug 31: Deputy Commmissioner Kurma Rao handed over Rs 14.36 lac collected by Ravi Katapady and Friends team during Ashtami celebration, to 11 financially poor sick children for their medical treatment at a programme that was held at Katapady Shree Kshethra Petebettu Sri Babbuswamy Koragajja Daivastana on August 30.
DC Rao lauded the efforts of Ravi and team for their noble work of helping innocent poor children of the district.
SP Akshay Macchendra announced an amount of Rs 10,000 as his personal donation and commended the efforts of Ravi Katapady who uses his body to don Hollywood characters to help medical treatment of poor children.
Ravi Katapady, who does centering work has collected money for sick children for the past seven years during Ashtami festival by donning various Hollywood characters. He has also donated Rs 8 lac he got from KBC completely for the sick children. So far, Ravi Katapady has collected Rs 1.43 crore.
The programme was inaugurated by Sri Esha Vittaladasa Swamiji. Ravi Katapady and his mother Deyi were felicitated on the occasion.
Dayananda Kattalsar, president of Tulu Sahitya Academy and Yajnesh Barke, founder of Barke Friends extended their good wishes. Guide of Ravi and Friends team Mahesh Shenoy welcomed the gathering. Dinesh Suvarna Rai proposed a vote of thanks.
