Udupi, Aug 28: Social worker Ravi Katapady, who donned scary Hollywood creatures during the Sri Krishna Janmashtami festivities in the city surroundings to raise funds for the medical treatment of financially poor children, bid goodbye to his noble deed.
Ravi Katapady raised Rs 90 lac in the past nine years and he had aimed to collect Rs 1 crore before retiring. He has so far helped in the medical treatment of 66 financially poor children.
This year, during Ashtami festival he was seen as a demon creature of Hollywood and had gathered Rs 10 lac. This amount will be distributed for the medical treatment of eight more ailing children through DC Kurma Rao. This information was shared by Ravi Katapady.
Ravi Katapady said, “In the past seven years, due to the continuous efforts of Ravi Friends team, we were able to raise Rs 1 crore for the medical treatment of needy poor children. Many artistes have helped me to portray these Hollywood characters in the past seven years. This year was my last character. I have the satisfaction that I have done a good job in the eyes of God. I will not continue this in future.”
Meanwhile, Ravi Katapady has clarified news reports about him bidding adieu to the Ashtami special characters. Speaking with Daijiworld, he said, "I have reached my goal of collecting Rs 1 crore and of helping children. Over the last seven years many people have helepd me in achieving this. Next Tuesday, on August 30, we have organised a programme to distribute the amount that was collected during the 2022 Ashtami. I will clarify about my social work on that day."
