Bengaluru, Sep 9: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s ambitious Bharat Jodo Yatra, which already commenced from Kanyakumari, will be travelling in Karnataka from September 30.
AICC General Secretary and Karnataka party in-charge Randeeep Singh Surjewala, KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar, Congress Opposition leaders in Assembly and Council Siddaramaiah and B K Hariprasad and other Congress party leaders unveiled the website pertaining to the yatra in the State, (www.bharathaikyatayatre.in) at the State Congress party office in Bengaluru on Friday.
KPCC Chief Shivakumar, who addressed the media persons after the launch of the website www.bharathaikyatayatre.in, said a two-day break will be given during the yatra journey in the State for the Dasara festival. While those interested to cover the entire 21 day route in the State were welcome, people can opt to join the yatra for a day or two according to their convenience.
As the Bharat Jodo Yatra is completely apolitical, the KPCC Chief said those interested in participating in the yatra need to register themselves through the website link as arrangements for accommodation and food need to be prepared, he said.
Shivakumar said Rahul Gandhi will hold dialogue and interaction with unemployed youth and other sections during the lunch breaks on each day of the yatra.
As the Congress party sponsored Freedom March to mark the Amrit Mahotsav of India’s Independence had over 1 lakh persons registering themselves, including 76,000 persons below 35 years, the KPCC has launched online registeration for the participants in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
The KPCC Chief said the party has decided to elicit the opinion of the citizens of Bengaluru on the problems of the city in the online mode by constituting a committee headed by former minister B Ramalinga Reddy with Krishna Byre Gowda, former Mayor Padmavathi and other leaders. The Committee compile the opinions online and submit a report after 15 days, he said.
