Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 13: Primary and secondary education minister B C Nagesh took out an order asking educational institutions to declare Dasara holidays from September 26 to October 10 in the district of Dakshina Kannada (DK).
MLA Vedavyasa Kamath who spoke to the minister in this regard had appealed to give holidays in accordance with the Dasara festival. The minister who responded to the request declared holidays except October 2, the day of Gandhi Jayanthi.

Speaking on the subject MLA Kamath said, “Navaratri is beginning from September 26. This is celebrated with grandeur in the district including the Mangaluru Dasara, Car Street Sharada Mahotsava, which is celebrating its centenary and Mangaladevi temple celebration. So we requested to give holidays during the festive season itself.”
In Udupi, holidays will be given to children according to the 2022-23 academic calendar of school education and literacy department. Dasara holidays are given in the district from October 3 to 16. In Mangaluru, dates are changed according to the appeal of local MLA. However, as no such requests is made from Udupi district, the Dasara holidays will begin as scheduled. The deputy commissioner is given the power to adjust the holidays according to Navaratri festival. However, direction is given not to create any inconvenience to lessons due to the holidays.
