Bantwal, Jul 22: B Ramanath Rai, state minister for forest, ecology, and environment, handed over compensation cheques of Rs 43.2 lac to kin of Perne gas tanker tragedy victims at BC Road office on Sunday July 21.

Hindustan Petroleum Company has handed over totally 14 cheques as compensation.

Sundar Rai – Rs 7.43 lac, Shankar Rai – Rs 2.83 lac, to children of deceased Kathijamma – Rs 3.93 lac, Katijamma c/o of Ismail Haji – Rs 7.17 lac, Narayana Nayak – Rs 4.10 lac, Battiya Nayak - Rs1.23 lac, Ismail Shafi – Rs 4.04 lac, Ummar – Rs 3.02 lac, Abbas – Rs 0.88 lac, Umappa Poojary – Rs 3.58 lac, J Ummar  - Rs 1.24 lac, Chandrashekar – Rs  0.09 lac, Abdul – Rs 2.60 lac, Yousif  - Rs 0.29 lac, was given as compensation.    

Puttur MLA Shakunthala Shetty, ZP member Chandraprakash Shetty Tumbe, taluk Tahashildhar Maleswamy, taluk panchayat CEO Vishwanath Poojary were present on the occasion.
